Founded by Yu Weixing, a former associate chief orthopedic surgeon at Beijing Tongren Hospital, the retreat began in 2014 when he chose to leave the city and settle here. With a philosophy of restoring rather than rebuilding, he has carefully revived a cluster of traditional village houses, incorporating years of personal cultural collections into the space.
